Leadership Consultants

As well as resident staff members, Class Measures employs a number of leadership consultants and school examiners.  All are educators of the highest standing frequently engaged in leadership development at the school and district levels.  Class Measures' leadership consultants provide leadership consultancy services direct to districts and schools, facilitate Leadership Academies, and serve as inspectors on district and school reviews.

All leadership consultants have substantial school and/or district leadership or performance auditing experience and additional qualifying experience, such as Massachusetts Office of Educational Quality and Accountability (EQA) Examiner or Senior Examiner status or National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) training.  The following is a sample listing of Class Measures' Leadership Consultants:  

Marcia Anselmo - Marcia is a former elementary school principal for one of New Bedford's highest performing public schools.  She is a specialist in literacy and intervention and has completed five charter school inspections.

Ellen Barol - Ellen is a highly experienced high school practitioner who specialized in alternative and enhancement programs.  She assists Class Measures as a specialist in charter school review and consulting.

Christine Brandt - Christine is a former elementary school principal who serves as a consultant to the Massachusetts Elementary School Principal Association (MESPA).  She specializes in data driven instruction. Christine has completed six charter school inspections and acted as Lead Inspector on two.

Lisa Bryant - Lisa was an examiner with the EQA and a former charter school administrator.  She is a seasoned inspector of all school types and has consulted on charter school management development as well as completed several charter school renewal inspections.

Dr. Peter Clark - Peter is the former Superintendent of Falmouth Public Schools.  He is a seasoned school inspector with expertise in public schools and charter schools.  He specializes in curriculum and assessment, and has led or participated in a number of charter school inspections.

Melanie Gallo - As a former charter school founder and principal, Melanie is well qualified to represent Class Measures in charter school consultancy and review, and has done so as a Project Manager, Lead Inspector and team member.

Dr. Linda Greyser - Linda is an experienced educator with many years of experience in educational policy and practice.  From 1994-2003, she served as Associate Director of Programs in Professional Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  Linda represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

James McAuliffe - Jim has worked in public education for over thirty-six years and has served as a school district examiner for the last four years.  Jim has served as an elementary school principal, student services director, and administrator of special education in various school districts.  Jim completed several charter school reviews and is an excellent technical writer.

Helen Apostilides - Helen has many years experience as both a teacher and an administrator in public education.  Helen was an elementary school principal for eleven years and an assistant principal for fourteen years, and has conducted a number of charter school inspections.

Dr. Albert Argenziano - Al has many years of experience as both a teacher and administrator in the US and overseas.  Recently, he was the Assistant Director of the EQA and the acting head of a charter school.  Al was superintendent of schools in Somerville from 1993-2005.

Dr. Magdelene Giffune - Since 1992, Meg has held superintendent positions in Foxborough, Uxbridge, and Milton.  She is past president of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (MASS) and currently sits on the Board of Directors.  Magdalene represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Ray Shurtleff - Ray was the Director of Human Resources for the Boston Public Schools from 2002-2003.  Ray is a senior consultant to the EDCO Collaborative of Greater Boston, Inc. and consults to many organizations in Massachusetts on human resource management and leadership issues.  Ray represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Patrick Hart - Patrick has served as a principal and assistant principal at the elementary and junior high levels in the Brockton Public schools for almost twenty years.  He also has taught math, business, and history at the junior high level.  Pat represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Michael Fitzpatrick - Since 1994, Michael has served as superintendent of schools for the Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional School District.  From 1990-1994, he was the Director of the Center for Vocational Technical Education at Fitchburg State College.  Michael has represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of 2007 Pilot School applicants and in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Lori Likis - Since 2003, Lori has served as the Director of School Improvement Planning & Initiative for a charter school in Cambridge.  Lori also serves as a consultant focusing on leadership, school improvement, and data use coaching.  Lori represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Judy Finkel - Judy served as a principal at several elementary schools in Worcester.  She also acted as a project coordinator for the central Massachusetts Leadership Center at the Curry College Worcester.  Judy represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Andrew Chen - Since 1996, Andrew has served as the President of a company that provides high quality professional development services in math and science at the grades 3-12 level.  Prior to that, he worked as a scientist and principal researcher at M.I.T. developing sophisticated math programs for grades 7-12.  Andrew represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Janet Strauss - Janet is the Director of Leadership and School Initiatives for the Hampshire Education Collaborative.  From 1997-2005, she served as Program Director for the Alternative High School in the Amherst, Massachusetts school district.  Janet represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Dr. Dennis Vogel - Since 1996, Dennis has acted as the Director of Alternative/Collaborative Programs and Executive Officer of Intervention Services for the Springfield Public Schools.  He also was the Assistant Principal of the Putnam Vocational School in Springfield.  Dennis has led over ten charter school inspections and is a senior Lead Inspector with Class Measures.

Dorothy Presser - Dorothy is presently the Chairman of the Lynnfield School Committee and has been a member of the committee since 1998.  She has collaborated with district personnel to administer a $15 million budget, and initiated the creation of a district strategic plan and an annual review of district policies.  Dorothy has recently completed her training as a charter school inspector and taken part on her first inspection.

Ron Walker - Ron is a consultant and CEO of DWJ Solutions, LLP, an educational consulting firm focused on leadership coaching, facilitation and design services for individual leaders, leadership cohorts, and district and state leadership projects.  Ron represented Class Measures as a panel member in the review of the 2008 Commonwealth Priority Schools.

Dolores Fitzgerald - Dolores was an elementary teacher and principal for many years in Massachusetts and New York.  Dolores participated in developing practices and procedures for the Massachusetts Office of Educational Quality and Accountability.  She has been the Lead Examiner on over sixty school district and charter school inspections in Massachusetts.

Patricia Williams - Pat was a high school principal and assistant principal in New Hampshire and Virginia for ten years.  She has also held positions as a K-12 ELA specialist and curriculum developer.  Since 2004 Pat acted as a school district examiner in Massachusetts and has experience participating in charter school inspections.

Kimberly Wechtenhiser - Since 2005, Kim held the position of Associate Vice President of the Charter Schools Institute for the State University of New York (SUNY).  Prior to that Kim was Coordinator of New Schools Development for the Massachusetts Charter School Office.

Joanne Grenier - Joanne has been a middle school teacher, secondary level administrator, sabbatical content specialist at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and an examiner for the Office of Educational Quality and Accountability.  In addition to completing twenty-three EQA examinations, she participated on many panel reviews of underperforming schools, compass schools and fact findings for the DESE.

Jeanne Simons - Jeanne is a leadership consultant with a specialization in mathematics.  She worked previously as a high school mathematics teacher and in mathematics reform in urban school districts as a Targeted Mathematics Specialist with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  She has experience in the development of coaching programs, effective differentiation, assessment and the formative usage of data.
