Class Measures was awarded a contract to conduct English Language Learner (ELL) reviews in five districts and 13 schools by the Center for School and District Accountability (CDA) of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE). The reviews will occur in May and June of 2010 and includes schools and districts where the performance of limited English proficient (LEP) students exceeded expectations. The inspections will attempt to identify systems and practices that are contributing to positive results for LEP students at these schools.
The review team will consist of five to six members, including a team leader and team members with the expertise in leadership and governance, curriculum and instruction, ELL education, assessment, and human resources and professional development. The team will be using a review protocol and classroom observation rubric developed by the CDA. The report produced by the team will identify the school and district factors that are contributing to high growth for LEP student performance and will also include recommendations to maintain and accelerate this growth
